A member wants to know.....

I just moved into a new house that has brand new Black kitchen appliances, they are a pain to clean everything I use to clean them leaves streak marks. I tried Streak free Windex and also fantastic. Don't know if it's the cloth I use or the cleaning agents. My arms are killing me from rubbing these appliances. Help!

One thing I noticed in cleaning my black stove and my stainless dishwaser and refrigerator......if you use fabric softener when you wash your towels/cleaning cloths...it leaves streaks on appliances and windows. I have stopped using fabric softener for my towels altogether and they do seem more absorbant now. I have also begun to stop letting all the finger marks etc. drive me crazy because with 5 kids in the house...it's never ending.

I just bought a smooth-surface black fridge.

According to the product manual, for both smooth and textured surfaces, you should: Use 4 tablespoons of baking soda dissolved in 1 quart (1 liter) warm, soapy water. Rinse surfaces with clean, warm water and dry
immediately to avoid water spots.

You should NOT use: Abrasive or harsh cleaners, Ammonia, Chlorine bleach, Concentrated detergents or solvents, Metal or plastic-textured scouring pads.

I was also told NOT to use paper towels on the surface as they will scratch it. Don't put magnets on the front either - they'll scratch the surface, too. I have all black appliances, so I feel your pain!

I wish I could do it over. I would not buy a black stove!!! The only thing that I have found that doesn't streak is to clean it with anything and then wipe with a micro fiber cloth.

I too have black appliances and was losing my mind trying to keep them clean. I ordered these special cleaning cloths and have been very satisfied. NO streaking and no lint! They are called SuperCloths and I ordered them from QVC. A little pricey, but worth it to me.

I just brought a stainless steel BBQ grill(that's all they sell nowadays) and every finger print shows. I brought a stray from Home Depot - Simple Green for polishing stainless steel items like the BBQ grills and also makes them water and finger resistent. However, it cleaned the finger prints off but it doesn't resist fingerprints. Is there a permanent solution to finger prints for stainless steel BBQ grills? Help!!!

Sorry, I meant the spray doesn't repell finger prints.

micro fiber cloths are the best for cleaning my black appliances, fridge, range, oven (especially the black glass front of the oven, mirrors, everything. just don't launder the clothes with anything else. you can buy them at the dollar store 2/$1. they are also great for your car/truck windows. my son uses them on his motorcycle helmet face shield.

The trick with microfiber towels is to wash and dry them WITHOUT any fabric softner!! If you use the fabric softner, it takes away the absorbing power of the towel, and can leave streaks!! I wash them, then hang them to dry!!

I agree...I use the Windex cloths all the time. You can rinse them out and use again (depending on how dirty they are) and they're not very expensive.

Yep...microfiber cloths. Windex makes disposable microfiber cleaning cloths. I have found them to be very handy and effective.

On my glass top range (which is black) I use the sanitizing wipes then dry it with a paper towel. The grease comes off and it's clean and sanitized. Some paper towels leave more "lint" than others. It depends on the brand that you use.

Just use newspaper instead of cloth or paper towels. It doesn't have lint at all.. The vinegar spray with newspapers is also what Heloise suggests and what my mother always uses for streak free windows too.

The suggestions above are great. It's the type of cloth you are using.I have black appliances.I sometimes just
rub lightly with a clean dry cloth after cleaning with windex and a micro fiber cloth. No streaks.
For my refrigerator which is textured..I just use orange glo..spray it on,wipe it down, with a microfiber cloth(no lint). It comes out shiny and new looking. It also protects that textured surface from scratching.

We have black ones too. What I have found work best without any streaks is regular old soap and water. Everything else streaks.

Yep - I agree. I just use good old Dawn (great for grease cutting) and warm water, paper towel! :)

White Vinegar!!! I use that on my black appliances, inside of my windows, and mirrors. No streaks!! Also, use a microfiber cloth, paper towels can cause streaks too.
