As a Kentuckian, gotta tell ya this is not a traditional mint julep. I like my mint juleps without the mint or the simple syrup, that is to say, I just drink the bourbon on the rocks!

great drink although you have to "acquire" a like for the taste.

Rather innovative to use a coffee can to mix this. Large enough to do the job since not everybody has a punch bowl. Besides, Karen can call this whatever she wants since it's her recipe. Some people, me included, can't have or don't like whiskey. Seems like suitable substitute to me.

sorry but that sounds terrible and NOTHING like a mint julep. Not an appropriate name at all!

I agree - this is nothing like a mint julep - and who would want a drink made in a coffee can - NOT ME

If they're not made with Kentucky bourbon, they're not mint juleps. And where does vodka come in cans?

You are so right about this not being a mint julep! I think the "12 oz. can vodka" refers to using the empty frozen lemonade can as a measuring tool.

People respond so that they get the points. At least this was a real response, not the mmmmmmmm someone has been doing of late, nor the one last year who just copied the name of the source of the recipe.

This person does every time there is liquior in a recipe.. I am not sure why they even look at the recipe, except to make a statement.

I agree about the good Kentucky Bourbon - never heard of vodka in a mint julep.

...and you still don't! A mint julep DOES NOT contain lemonade. It is made with crushed ice, a good Kentucky bourbon (like Maker's Mark), simple syrup and mint. It would also never be made in batches or shaken. With all due respect, this recipe is probably pretty tasty but it bears no resemblance to a mint julep.
