Directions:
Mix together and put in bowl or 9 inch x 13 inch pan as your bottom layer: 1 head of lettuce, 1 c. chopped celery and 1/2 c. chopped onion.
Mix together and layer over first layer: 1 can water chestnuts (sliced) and 1 box frozen peas.
Stir together and spread on top first two layers: 1/2 c. parmesan cheese, 1 tsp. seasoning salt, 1/2 tsp. garlic salt, 1/2 tsp. sugar and 2 c. mayonnaise. This is the dressing.
Top the dressing with 1/2 lb. crumbled bacon, a little grated cheese, sliced eggs or tomatoes - if desired. Let it stand in refrigerator overnight.

I love this salad, except I don't take the time to layer it. :) I just throw it all in a bowl and toss it in dressing. Haven't tried it with garlic and seasoning salts. Next time!! Thanks.

I think this salad would be good either way - layered or tossed. Personally, I would skip the bacon.

This looks and sounds very good. I think when I make it that I'll put it in a clear casserole dish. ty

it looks huge! What kind of tongs do you use to get all the layers out in one chunk?

The deli I used to work at had something like this called seven layer salad. No water chestnuts though. It was very good. Will try a scaled down version of this.

I think I have had this salad, it's good. When I tried it the person that made it called in "Suffern Inn Salad".
