Apple Cabbage Slaw

6 cups shredded cabbage
3 medium red apples, sliced thin, or chopped
1 (5 oz) can evaporated milk
1/4 cup lemon juice
2 TBL sugar
2 tsp grated onion
1 tsp celery seed
Dash of pepper
1/2 tsp salt [optional]


In a large bowl, toss cabbage and apple. In a small bowl combine remaining ingredients. Pour over cabbage mixture and toss to coat. Serves 10. For extra color, use some purple cabbage.
