Are there any costs related to being a member?

StartSampling is ABSOLUTELY FREE! All you need is a willingness to "Try Something New!" and then enjoy yourself as a member of the country's leading on-line sampling company.

Above and beyond receiving samples, as a member you can also participate in our Frequent Tryer Miles program. Frequent Tryer Miles (FTM) are points you collect for participating in our sampling program and can be used to receive gifts that are absolutely free.

This is our way of saying Thank You for being a member of the StartSampling family.

StartSampling is a marketing and promotions company that has established itself as the leading on-line sampling company by linking brands with consumers. Can I enter a contest more than one time?

You may enter a contest as many times as you wish providing different answers or guesses to the contest. However, you may only enter the same answer one time per contest. All duplicate entries will be removed or deleted prior to selecting the 10 random winners.

Does my contest answer have to be exact?

Your answer will not be excluded if your entry is misspelled or, for example, if you guessed "Fresh Step Crystals" instead of "Fresh Steps Crystals Cat Litter."

However, if the contest requires you to unscramble letters or fill in the blanks, you must utilize all of the letters or spaces properly for your guess to be considered correct.

How are contest winners chosen?

Ten winners are randomly selected from the pool of correct entries as soon as the contest ends.

How do the contests work?

Contests generally run for several days and are updated approximately twice a week. When the contest is over, we will select 10 winners at random from the pool of correct entries. Each of the winners will receive 50 Frequent Tryer Miles (FTM) on their account and will be notified via e-mail.

With the member's permission, all winners' first name and state will appear on our site.

I was on the contest winners' list, did I win?

All winners will receive an e-mail from us prior to the winners being announced on our site. Only the 10 randomly selected winners will receive an e-mail and the FTMs. Therefore, if you saw your name on the list, but did not receive an e-mail from us, the winner is another person with the same first name in your home state.

How do you earn FTMs for referrals?

You will automatically receive 25 FTMs for each referral, up to 10, who becomes a member and enters your Member ID in the "Referred By" field on the membership form.

How long should it take to receive my prize?

Prizes will be processed and shipped within 20-30 days of ordering. Please allow 8-10 weeks for delivery.

Please note: You must notify us within 90 days of ordering if you have not received your prize. If you have received a damaged prize, please let us know right away.

How many people can I refer to earn FTMs?

As a member of StartSampling you can earn FTMs for up to ten (10) referrals. Under our referral program this would result in you earning as much as 250 FTMs - 25 miles for each referral, plus a one-time 75 FTM bonus after the third referral becomes a member. Although you may refer an unlimited number of people, StartSampling can only award Frequent Tryer Miles for up to the first ten referrals.

Please contact us using the Contact Us link at the bottom of the home page. Enter as much information as possible and the Member ID of the person you referred. We will be happy to look into this for you to make sure you receive the FTMs you have earned.

I'm not getting my FTMs for visiting your site.

We don't want you to miss the opportunity to earn FTMs. In order for our system to recognize your visit, you must use a web browser that accepts cookies (most recent web browsers are compatible with cookies).

Here are some suggestions:

Manually log in by using the link at the bottom (right) of the home page, "Not getting Frequent Tryer Miles." This will manually log you in and refresh your cookies to give you the FTMs. If you still did not receive the miles, please verify that your cookies are turned on. We suggest that you regularly check your FTMs to make sure that cookies are picking up your visits. If not, the only way to receive your FTMs is to manually log in on the same day that the miles did not appear on your account.

If you are still having a problem receiving your FTMs, please contact our Member Services group for other suggestions.

Note: It is the member's responsibility to monitor their FTMs and manually log in if daily FTMs are not issued to the account.

How do I log off of StartSampling?

We do not have a Log Off option on our site. However, to manually log off, click on "If this is not you, Click here." Once you are on the next page, click on "Can't remember your id and/or password." This will give you a space to enter your e-mail address, but you do not have to enter anything. Just click back on to the Select Samples page. When you re-enter our site, you will see "Member? Log in". Then just enter your member id and password the next time you want to log into our site.

No other members or non-members can access any of your personal information without your password and date of birth.

No, we do reserve the right to monitor the hints for content and language. We will not post a hint if we do not believe it is appropriate for our community.

Why did you start the Helpful Hint section?

We all share ideas with our family, friends and coworkers. We thought it would be fun to give the StartSampling community an opportunity to share and learn ideas and hints from other members. To be able to have more samples available to all of our members, membership is currently limited to one membership per household and one shipping address per member.

As StartSampling has extended its sampling programs beyond the consumer packaged goods arena, and in order make the system as fair as possible, we allow only one "My Account" update per month.

While we appreciate your enthusiasm, our membership program is geared towards referring family and friends, and other people that you know. You cannot post solicitations for new members in public forums or newsgroups unless you are the owner of the forums. Out of respect for the Internet community, sending out SPAM or unsolicited e-mails in not condoned by StartSampling and will result in the cancellation of your membership.

How does the referral program work?

It's easier than ever to refer your family and friends to StartSampling. All you have to do is to click on the "Refer A Friend" link located in the bottom left hand corner of any page. An e-mail will automatically be sent to your friend telling him or her that you thought they might enjoy our site.

When your friend receives the e-mail, all they have to do is click on the link located in the e-mail and it will bring them to the "Become A Member" sign up page on our site. When they use this link your Member ID will automatically be entered and you'll instantly receive a bonus of 25 Frequent Tryer Miles (FTM).

If your friend decides to sign up at a later time, they can enter your Member ID and you'll still receive the bonus miles. All you have to do is give them your Member ID and tell them to enter it in the "Referred By" field.

Who can I refer to become a member?

As a member of StartSampling, you may refer other people to the StartSampling membership program. For each person that you refer who becomes a member of StartSampling (subject to the discretion of StartSampling and subject to the Terms and Conditions), you will currently earn 25 Frequent Tryer Miles (FTM). As a member of StartSampling you may refer up to 10 people to the StartSampling membership program and earn reward miles.

Note: These referrals must be to a person who is not now and has never been a member of StartSampling. Although you may refer an unlimited number of people to our program, StartSampling has no obligation to give you FTMs for any referrals above and beyond the first ten. Moreover, no duplicate referrals will count (i.e., same person, different address) or referrals to people who do not provide accurate/truthful information.

How long will it take my sample to arrive?

The delivery time of most samples will take 5-7 weeks. Magazine samples will take 8-10 weeks, as they are shipped directly from the distributor. You can find a list of the samples ordered in your "My Account" pages.

If you have not received a sample within the time frame listed above, please Contact Us with a list of the specific samples you are 'missing.'

Please note: We are unable to reship samples past 90 days from the order date.

How many samples can I select?

To have more samples available to all of our members, you may only sample a product once. Actual quantity and variety are determined by the number of samples supplied by our customers and their targeting needs. You can only receive one of each sample across our site and our network sites. If you are unable to order a sample listed in the “Current Samples and Savings” section because there is no order button, you have previously ordered this sample. You are only able to select a sample one time.

We don't want you to miss a chance to "Try Something New!" If you have not received your sample within 5-7 weeks of ordering, please Contact Us and let us know the specific sample you are missing. Magazine samples generally take about 8-10 weeks for delivery as these are shipped directly from the publisher.

Many, if not all, of our customers are looking for feedback from specific groups of consumers and target our members accordingly. For instance, a customer may select a group of consumers based on prior sampling feedback, or based on the information provided on the SampleSurveys or QuickQuestions.

Why am I not offered all samples?

While we cannot guarantee our members will get every sample product, your active participation with StartSampling, along with where you live, your age, etc., does play a key role in determining which products are made available to each member.

Why don't you have more samples?

With over one million members, it is virtually impossible to provide samples to all members. It's important to remember that StartSampling provides samples to the entire country and makes it possible for members to sample products they otherwise may not have been able to. In addition, our sponsors determine the amounts of samples we have available and to whom they are made available to. We at StartSampling are working diligently to provide more samples and surveys to our members. In the future we look forward to having more available varieties and quantities of samples.

At any given time numerous samples are targeted to members based on client needs. If you are not seeing samples available to you as often as you would like, it's simply a case of not being targeted by our clients. Client targeting varies from sample to sample with no specific guidelines.

To increase your sampling selections, we recommend that you participate in our SampleSurveys, providing honest and accurate feedback, and that you continue to give candid feedback on the products after you have sampled them.

While we can not guarantee our members will get every sample product, your active participation with StartSampling, as well as your profile information does play a key role in determining which products are made available to each member.
